# Visual Automation — Free beta evaluation terms

**Publishing brand: Visual Automation, operated by an individual.** In these terms, the “Publisher” means the individual operating under the Visual Automation brand. Visual Automation is a publishing brand, not a registered company or a separate legal entity. These terms cover the invite-only Visual Automation beta identified in the accompanying `VERSION.json`, together with its samples and documentation (the “Beta”). The application's copyright notice is in `COPYRIGHT.txt`.

Read these terms and the included third-party licences before using the Beta. By using it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it. Rights that applicable law does not allow these terms to restrict are preserved throughout.

## 1. Free evaluation permission

If the Publisher has invited you, the Publisher grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to install and use the Beta on Windows devices you own or are authorised to use, to evaluate its desktop automation features and supplied examples. You may keep one backup copy for reinstallation. This permission lasts while you comply with these terms; there is no fixed expiry date or automatic beta expiry in the application.

This Beta is free. It creates no purchase, payment obligation, subscription or automatic renewal, and requires no payment details. Access to a future release, paid plan or proposed feature is not promised. Any future paid offer would require a separate, deliberate agreement.

## 2. Invitations and copies

Do not publicly upload, resell, rent, lend, repackage or otherwise redistribute the Beta or pass your invitation to another person without the Publisher's permission. Ask through the invitation channel if someone else wants to participate. Keep all copyright, licence and third-party notices with permitted copies. This restriction does not take away any independent copying or other rights granted by applicable law or a component's own licence. The Beta is licensed for evaluation; ownership of the application is not transferred to you.

## 3. Authorised, supervised use

Use the Beta only with applications, accounts, devices and information you are authorised to control, and comply with applicable law and the rules of the systems you use. Do not use it to gain unauthorised access or bypass another service's access controls.

Start with the included controlled test target and follow the accompanying quickstart. Keep runs supervised and use disposable test data. During evaluation, keep automation away from sensitive or irreversible actions. Recognition can fail or select the wrong visible content after changes in focus, layout, theme, scaling or resolution. The stop control and other safeguards cannot undo input already delivered. Check the target's actual result; a completed run does not itself prove that the intended external task succeeded. Back up important projects before changing versions.

## 4. Information on your device

When launched with `Start.cmd`, the Beta stores projects, captured reference images, preferences and diagnostic logs in `%LOCALAPPDATA%\VisualAutomation\PrivateBeta`, separately from its extracted program folder. Images can contain the windows you capture; logs can contain window titles, local paths and diagnostic details. Review these files before sharing them. Removing the program folder does not remove this separate data. You can remove local data yourself after closing the app and saving anything you need.

The application has no built-in upload of your screenshots, projects, diagnostic logs or usage events, and has no account, cloud-sync or desktop payment system. This describes the Beta application's behaviour; Windows, applications you automate and any communication service you choose have their own data practices. The bundled Microsoft components also have the separate terms described below.

“Record basic usage on this device” is optional and off by default. If you enable it in Preferences, it records first-open, first-completed-run and active-day events with timestamps and random installation/session identifiers, only on your device. It has no network destination. When recording, it prunes events older than 30 days and keeps at most 256 events within a 64 KiB event-file limit. Files are not automatically erased while the app is stopped. Deduplication flags and the installation identifier can remain while the option is enabled. Turning it off deletes the journal's event data and identifiers; if storage access prevents saving the preference or deleting data, Preferences reports the failure so you can retry. This action does not delete projects or ordinary diagnostic logs, and their retention is not covered by the journal's 30-day rule. Declining this option does not limit automation features.

## 5. Voluntary feedback and contact

Use the channel through which the Publisher invited you for questions, feedback or privacy requests. No separate support email is supplied with this Beta, and no support response time is promised.

Feedback is voluntary. You do not have to send personal information, screenshots, logs or projects to participate. If you choose to send a report, provide only information needed to describe the issue and remove passwords, secrets and unrelated personal information first. You must have permission to share any included material. Your chosen communication service processes messages under its own terms.

The Publisher may use information you choose to send to respond, investigate the reported issue and improve the Beta, keeping it only as needed for those purposes or as required by law. The Publisher will not publish identifying details or your attachments without your permission. You can request access, correction or deletion through the invitation channel, subject to applicable rights and lawful retention requirements. Suggestions may inform improvements without an obligation to implement them or pay for them; you retain ownership of your projects and other submitted materials.

## 6. Bundled components

The Beta includes Microsoft .NET runtime binaries and third-party material. Read the unchanged `licenses/DOTNET-LICENSE.txt` and `licenses/DOTNET-THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt`, also included under `runtime` as `LICENSE.txt` and `ThirdPartyNotices.txt`. The Microsoft software licence terms apply to the Microsoft components, are incorporated here for those components, and must be accepted and followed when using them. Their restrictions, notices, data provisions and applicable-law provisions concern those components; they do not replace these terms for the Publisher's application. Any separately applicable third-party licence continues to govern its material.

Do not remove or alter component notices or imply Microsoft or another third party endorses this application. This evaluation permission does not grant additional rights to redistribute the runtime separately. Nothing here overrides component rights, exceptions or protections that applicable law requires.

## 7. Experimental software and your rights

The Beta is experimental and may contain defects or cause unintended actions or data loss. To the extent applicable law permits, the Publisher supplies it “as is” and does not promise uninterrupted operation, compatibility, fitness for a particular purpose, correction of defects, support or future updates. This paragraph does not exclude a warranty, guarantee, remedy or liability that applicable law does not allow the Publisher to exclude, including applicable consumer rights. No term requires you to waive non-waivable rights, and these terms impose no monetary liability cap in favour of the Publisher.

You can stop participating at any time and remove the Beta and its local data as described above. Updates are optional and installed manually. If an update comes with different terms, those terms will be supplied with that update; they do not retrospectively change this agreement for your existing copy. No governing law, court or dispute procedure is selected by these application terms, and you retain any protections and avenues of redress available under applicable law.
